We are finally moving on to the original trilogy, which to most people are the best of the 6 Star Wars films. I love this movie and my opinion has changed since I was a child. The way my opinion has changed, this film gets better with time, A New Hope is timeless. No matter the release, whether or not Han shot first or whatever George Lucas has done with the film, it is still great. Star Wars, yes Star Wars is a fantastic movie and it holds up to this day. There is something about the movie that brings me to full body goose bumps and at the same time, it takes me back to my childhood. The trash compactor scene is one of my favorite scenes from the entire movie.
The story itself is they classic beginning to the heroes journey story. But it is a space opera. We all know the story, Luke Skywalker is a farm boy on Tatooine. When he meets two droids his world gets turned upside down and he gets thrust into the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. There are things we see in Star Wars, may remind you of other stories, but it is still very fresh. We also meet some of THE most iconic characters in film history other than Luke, Darth Vader is the first bad ass character we meet, after the awesome white armored Storm Troopers. But when we finally meet Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo, yeah the movie gets better and better. Han Solo has been one of my favorite characters of anything.

No matter the release, whether or not Han shot first or whatever George Lucas has done with the film, it is still great. When I was a kid this was the best Star Wars movie. I was born in 1980 and by time I was three I had all three movies at my disposal. Part of the reason I loved this, Obi-Wan. He was something different, even has a small child the wise old mentor had an effect on me. The other reason, Empire and Jedi were more available to me and it was always very special when I had the chance to see Star Wars. Yes, it is Star Wars, now referred to A New Hope, because the series is referred to as “Star Wars”.
There is not much to say bad about this film, other than the fact it is old and it does have its faults, but it was the first of 6 films. Every time I watch it I go back to being a kid again and cannot take my eyes off the TV. I get all of those old feelings when seeing the film and there are times that I pick up things I may have missed or just love to revisit.
The Original Trilogy was re-released as the special edition and you know I had to be there. So the night Star Wars came out, a friend of mine and I drove in my POS car. Well, we should have taken my buddy’s car because about 3 miles from the theater on a dark road, my car broke down. It was miles away from home and 3 from the theater and this was before Cell phones and it was January and cold. So I missed opening night for the special edition and my first time ever seeing Star Wars on the big screen. I did get to see it the next day, I called off work and went to something more important. I love Star Wars.
When I finally got to see the movie, the following night. It was amazing, the first time I would get the chance to see any Star Wars movie on the big screen. The things I noticed the most when my viewing, Jabba the Hutt’s added scene. I was too mesmerized by the fact I was seeing Star Wars on the big screen for the first time. The movie looked great, sounded great and before it ended its short run, I saw Star Wars 4 times. Shortly after the Empire Strikes Back was released and I turned my attention to Episode V.
That brings me to the end, join me in two days and I will share some memories of Empire Strikes Back. That will bring us to only 4 days until the release of the Force Awakens.
