11. Marvel Movies: X-men (2000)

X-men was ground breaking, mostly for Marvel.  Superhero films were on their way out.  Probably thanks to Batman & Robin in 1997.  But Marvel and Fox took a risk and look where we are now.  There 4 or 5 superhero movies released a year and most seem to be summer blockbusters. The first X-men film is dated, badly.  The story, effects and characterizations of the heroes are poor.  When I first saw the movie, it was amazing and I loved every second, but thank god for Days of Future Past and the retcon.  This movie does not hold up.  It isn’t too bad and it is better than X3 and Origins.  I think First Class and DOFP are way better.  Then there is the question of tomorrows entry.
